AWS CloudFormation StackSets in Landing Zones

The use of AWS CloudFormation StackSets within meshStack landing zones is planned for deprecation. These setups will be deprecated no earlier than April 1, 2026.
StackSets can still be used at the AWS Organization or OU level, as supported by AWS. For landing zone automation in meshStack, we recommend transitioning to Building Blocks, which offer better control and a consistent experience across cloud providers.

As previously announced, AWS CloudFormation StackSets support has been removed from meshStack in v2026.38.0 (September 16, 2026). AWS Landing Zones no longer offer the AccessStack Template URL, StackSet ARN, and deploy region settings, and meshStack no longer creates or updates StackInstances or access stacks during tenant replication. StackInstances already deployed to your AWS accounts remain in place, but meshStack no longer manages them. To bootstrap new AWS accounts, use a Lambda function that triggers your own Account Vending Machine, as described in the AWS Landing Zone documentation. Thank you for your patience!
